middle of vacation
02.07.05 (3:01 pm)   [edit]
Her it is Monday all ready, time sure flies.

We got to southern california on Friday morning. Barely I might add. It seems so strange that when you have plans that you have been looking forward to for so long, that if anything can go wrong it will.

Well lets see, first we got our load to Southern Cal in Salt Lake City, which was great because all we had to do was go down I-15 to the yard. My grandmother and grandfather live in St. George UT which is right off the highway, I havent seen them in 2 years or so, so i was real excited we had time to visit for a couple of hours.

After we left their house we were on our way in to Nevada and we started smelling something burning then we noticed on the gauges that the batteries were only running at about 12.2 volts then the lights on the inside of the cab and bunk went out, then the heat and air went out the radios went off. I just knew we werent going to make it to my parents house, I was stressing out big time. Plus I was worried for a truck fire in the middle of the desert. Man it sucked.

Well, we made it. Turned the truck into the shop, rented a car (after many problems and additional stress) and did a bit of shopping and then made it to my Parents house around 2pm local time. My mom got home around 630pm from work because she had to pick up my cousin and Aunt who are also truck drivers they were spending the weekend here too.

We all had a bit to drink visited and then went to bed. Me with a huge smile on my face.
happy as can be. I will continue the journey on the next blog dont want to bore you.

hopefully healthy
01.29.05 (10:23 am)   [edit]
It's now Saturday afternoon, and I really think I am recovered. I still have a cough and my nose is dripping (Yuck) but other than that I feel a heck of a lot better. M on the other hand is still feeling like shit. She is sleeping right now. We haven't really been working all that much, because neither of us can stay awake very long at one time. We left Wednesday morning from Southern California and didnt deliver in South Bend Indiana till Friday morning, should have been there Thursday night. But the boss has given us plenty of time because we told him we were sick. Now we are waiting on a load in Schaumburg, Il (it should be ready about 4pm) and we have to go to Kent, WA by Monday. A little tighter of a schedule, but since I am feeling fine (minus the hearing thing) hopefully I can pull the slack till M is doing better.

Oh yeah the hearing thing, I havent been able to hear out of my right ear for about 4 days now, i am a little worried about that. When I was real young I had a problem with my hearing but they fixed that, then a few years ago i punctured my ear with a Q tip and had to go to the emergency room in Boise Idaho. This is the same ear, and also this is the same ear that i sort of damaged while i was in the military, because i didnt always wear my earplugs while at the shooting range or during manuevers (sp?). Anyway I hope I can hear normal again soon. It throws the whole balance thing into whack.

No fun stories from the road or anything since we have barely been able to drive let alone enjoy what we are doing.

Bummer huh? :(.

Oh I did hear a joke on the radio tho. What do tofu and vibrators have in common?
they are both replacements for the real meat. LMAO :)

will write soon, hope to not bore ya too much.

Back to the living
01.24.05 (3:58 pm)   [edit]
Well, the past 2-3 days are just a blurr in my mind. I have been very ill. running fever off and on, coughing like crazy. all my muscles have been sore. in fact i didnt get out of bed from 930 saturday morning till 530 this morning.

THen i was worried my head wouldnt stay on my neck. It hurt just to keep my head up. M has been taking care of me all weekend. Fortunatly or unfortunatly depending on how you want to look at it, our truck has been broken and the Volvo dealership here in Fontana,ca didnt open till monday morning, so i was able to just lay and sleep on and off.

M has been taking real good care of me, and now, you guessed it, she is feeling like crap, and I am afraid she is on her way to the land of the sick. I am hoping to head her off on a detour, by getting her full of medicine and not let her get sick. I hope.

Anyway, we are in the truck, in the shop right now. kinda funny, they could tell i wasnt doing so good this morning so they let me just sleep when they brought us in. I dont think they know M is in here, but M just called the service desk and they said the truck should be done around 8 - 9pm.Its not so bad since we can stay in the truck and neither of us feels good enough to even walk about right now. And i am sweating off and on all day. Breaking fever etc.

Anyway, update at another time, hopefully we are both healthier and the truck is running and we are making money. LOL. that would be tooo perfect right.

court has come and gone
01.20.05 (8:04 am)   [edit]
Hi there, Well we finally made it to Kentucky for court.

Here's how: we sat all day till around 5pm on Tuesday in Carlisle,PA then the boss sends us to New Jersey to drop the load, Pick up another load in Reading,PA going to Odessa,TX with plenty of time on it. We left Reading,PA @ 0415 on Wednesday morning. Drove hard and got to Franklin,KY @ 7pm on Wednesday night. We parked and showered and we were waiting with bells on in front of the court house come 0800 this morning.

M went in, nervous as she was, and I didn't see her for an hour. She says she had a judge like Judge Judy. :) He was a talker and a lecturer. She was 3rd to be called. First he looked at this guy who was on oxygen and said "Why did you come to court with only 10% of your oxygen, if you think that is gonna make sure your first your wrong, if your oxygen runs out then we will just have to reschedule." M was a little worried at this time, then a guy was talking when he was and he rescheduled his court date for 3wks. then she was really worried. Then a guy during roll call instead standing up and saying Present or here remained seated and said "Yo" the judge then made him come to the front of the court room and sit right there, and he was to be called last now.

When it came to her, he asked did she have her license and Medical card. and of course she did, then she pointed out that the officer had annotated on her ticket that she had found her license before leaving the weigh station, this upset the judge. He told her he halfway wanted her to plead not guilty but then she would have to return to court along with the officer who wrote the ticket and that wouldnt be fair to her because she didnt even live there, and its a lot of lost time just to get there. So he copied her ticket and had his secretary make a note of the officers name. And he said he would take care of the officer later. He dismissed her case and told her she is now on 6 month probation in Simpson County Ky. After a small lecture of course and a few stories of his own.

All is well, and we are on our way to Texas. Well actually we are dropping our load in W. Memphis, AR then going to Whittier,CA. 'Tis the life of the truck driver, you never know where you are or where your heading from day to day. :)

will write later, the sun is shining and its 40' outside, whew its warm :)

another day
01.18.05 (7:29 am)   [edit]
Well now its Tuesday, we are in Carlisle,PA still haven't made it to New Jersey and still trying to figure out how we are going to get M to Kentucky. A little stressed right now. M isn't getting any sleep, neither of us is getting very much work. M is going to call the boss @noon central time if he doesnt have a plan sealed by then we are going to rent her a car and she will drive there. They will have to get me a load or something down there so I can pick her up. We should have been in New Jersey Monday around noon, but because of all this court crap the company keeps telling us to stop and wait where we are @ the time to see if they can get a truck to us that is heading south. Sounds like a bunch of bull to me. If we have to rent a car @ least we will know she is on her way. I won't like driving apart like that. But you do what you have to do. To keep your loved one out of Jail :)

Thats all for now. It's sunny and about 12' outside. Cant wait for spring.:)

From the road
01.17.05 (5:12 am)   [edit]
Hi there, we are on the road and finally we are online.
Its Monday morning and we are just outside Indianapolis.
It's 5 degrees outside but the sun is shining brightly.
Which is a good thing. The load is headed to New Jersey,
just waiting to here from our dispatcher to see what to do
next. Not sure if we are going to New Jersey or not.

About the Bathroom, since that is where I left off. We
hired a general contractor and a plumber to finish things
up. Its still not complete, but we ordered the bathtub
and the medicine cabinet and a few of the accessories. so the
next time we are home we need to pick out the tile and they
said the room will be complete in 2 days. Its all very
exciting.

There was more drama than I have time to write now, but im sure
through the future entries anyone who is interested in reading
this will understand what kind and how much drama we have with our
family that lives down the road.

Since we left the house we have just about spent the whole time
in the Northwest. We have been in 2 snowstorms and not travelled
that many miles total because of road and/or weather conditions.

On Thursday M has to be in court in Kentucky, so that is our next
goal. If she isnt in court she will be arrested. Stupid ticket,
the officer was in a bad mood, the whole thing should have never
taken place. We were pulled in for a routine driver inspection, it was
extremely windy and 27'. M got all her paperwork together and went
inside. On the way some papers blew out of her hand, she recovered
them and went in. He was looking through her paperwork and asked
for her license and medical card. She told him they were there, he
said No they aren't. So she went searching for them outside. She
couldnt find them, and he didnt beleive her, Our company doesnt have
access to the personnel files at night, so he wrote her a ticket for
no license or medical card, on her way back to the truck she found
her license, so she went back in and showed him. He made a copy then
told her he didnt care she found it he had already wrote the ticket
and now its mandatory court. She had him write on the ticket that
she found it and now on Thursday its her court day. Will let you know
what happens. Its the feeling that this will be thrown out, but its a
pain in the ass and a loss of a days work.

The next plan is to go to my parents house to watch the super bowl.
they live in southern California, so we are going to do some touristy
stuff too. I left home before I could really enjoy what the area had
to offer for adults. We tried to get Ellen tickets but we didnt think
about it early enough. We are going to try and go to the Price is Right
though. That should be fun. we are going to the walk of fame and i am
a big Lucille Ball fan so I am going to find her stars. And also visit
alot of family.

I guess I have gabbed enough for now, hope I have not bored you. Will write
later.

another drama day
12.29.04 (3:16 pm)   [edit]

Here we are on the fourth day of trying to remodel the bathroom.  Drama, drama, and more drama.  First of all, a job that should have taken maximum 2 days is now on its fourth day, and wont be completed by the end of today.  Second of all,  There is so much stress and tension in the air the whole time that M's brother is in the house, that its driving me crazy.  I lost control today and blew up at him, and as usual he said "Fuck it, I'm outta here, so much for trying to help you"  Which is completely wrong, we were trying to help him by giving him work to earn some money.

Last time we do that,  It never pays and it never will. He will not be back.

Update later when I am not in such a bitchy mood.

Just getting them started..
12.10.04 (7:56 pm)   [edit]

This is the SUPERTRUCKERCHIKS friend. I am just getting their blog started for them. They are currently on the road. I believe they should be either already their or on their way to Tacoma, Washington. I talked to them this morning and they were in Idaho. They were worried about the weather. Then they lost their signal. I'll refer to them as C. and M. C. and I talk usually once a day. The only time we don't is if they don't have a signal on their cell phones. C. drives at night and M. drives during the day. I believe they drive in 10 hour shifts. They have been driving together for, I think 8 yrs now? I'm not sure I have that number right. I do know that they have been together for 12 yrs. And boy, have they made it work...I admire them so much for that. I don't get to see them often. But will be seeing them on Dec. 26th and my partner and I J. (jennirae269) will be staying with them till Jan. 2. I can't wait. (my blog is princesslori). I will update their blog when I talk to them next. When they get home they will surely arrange their new blog more to their liking. I was only guessing, based on my vast and in-depth knowledge of them. And let me tell you, they have plenty of stories to tell, from their years on the road...driving all across the USA. Hopefully, they will have internet access soon while they are on the road. Then that will be fantastic, they'll be able to blog from their truck!

Anyway, I miss those girls. And I can't wait till we get to see them. It's gonna be a great week.

Just a little info...they live 2 states away from us....so that is why we don't get to see them often. And they never get sent drop or pick up a load in the south east!!!! :(

Well, that's it for now...I hope they like this.........Actually I know they will!!!! Love you C. and M. from L. and J.
